Information for Landlords at the Property Forum
You are not alone. Hundreds of reliable, good landlords from up and down the country are getting in contact with us to tell us about the unscrupulous behaviour of the LPA receivers. Many of these landlords have been managing properties for years and have never defaulted on payments but due to the recession, difficulty in finding tenants, tenants who don’t pay and other extenuating circumstances, they have found themselves in terrifying territory.
Help is here. With your story, we can build a strong enough case to fight the LPA receivers and stop this situation before it gets even worse.
What you can do as Landlords?
• If your property has been taken over by LPA receivers, we advise you to act straight away by immediately lodging a petition with the court for the right to sell your own property.
• We also recommend that you check that your mortgage agreement specifically states the lender's right to appoint an LPA receiver. You can do this be requesting a Subject Access Request which will allow you to review all information held about you.
• Make a record of all your communication with the LPA receivers and find out (if you can) from the tenants how the property is being managed. Record everything and keep it for proof.
